In light of the significant changes in the regulatory environment of management reports due to the enactment of various laws in recent years, the importance of this reporting instrument is increasing. Thomas Stein examines through empirical studies whether the changes in legislation regarding the preparation of management reports and the regulations for their enforcement have led to an improved reporting practice. A comprehensive overview of the development of the management report as a reporting instrument is provided. Based on this, the author develops potential recommendations for legislators to achieve more meaningful management reporting.
