The networking of humanity through mobile internet access achieved a breakthrough in the 21st century. This was initiated by the Apple iPhone in combination with the wireless transmission technology UMTS in 2007. With the successor technologies UMTS, LTE, and LTE-Advanced, another breakthrough is occurring that will sustainably change the market for mobile internet access. Conrad Neumann provides answers to the strategic challenges faced by mobile network operators in positioning and acting optimally in this new world, using game theory. Similarly, the resulting dangers for competition regulators and possible countermeasures to maintain effective and fair competition are highlighted.
