Sustainable innovation capability is a crucial competitive advantage. How do companies and public sector organizations manage to become and remain innovative? Which management tools prove effective? The practical approach of institutional reflexivity focuses on specific tools and practices of change management that enable organizations to successfully remain open to change. These include employee surveys, quality reporting, process and project management, as well as organizational development workshops and large group interventions. Five comparative case studies, conducted over a period of up to three years, explore the use of management tools in innovation processes related to product development, process optimization, as well as mergers and product and market diversification.
