Melanie Speck (née Lukas) provides an overview of the theoretical and empirical foundations of sufficiency in German households for the first time with her book. In doing so, she addresses a core element of sustainable development that has received little attention in society so far. Based on 42 household interviews, she demonstrates that sufficient action implies a moderate change in socially accepted cultural techniques and that a complete departure from current societal consumption structures is not necessary.
