Business informatics has been dealing with IT-supported strategic management in companies for several decades. Management information systems provide relevant data for decision-makers. However, in politics and administration, such IT-supported strategic management has hardly been addressed so far. Frank Finkler examines the need for optimization in political management and designs an electronic government information system to improve leadership work in politics and administration. He develops a target concept that provides decision-relevant information to politics and administration for the effective management of political measures. Using two solutions that are currently in real use, the author tests the findings for their practical applicability.
