Recent advancements in hardware and software development, such as multi-core CPUs and DRAM capacities of several terabytes per server, have facilitated the introduction of a revolutionary technology: in-memory data management. This technology supports the flexible and extremely fast analysis of large volumes of enterprise data. Professor Hasso Plattner and his team at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam have been teaching the relevant concepts for years and ensuring their visibility in the software industry. This book is based on the first online course of the openHPI e-learning platform, which was launched in the fall of 2012 with over 13,000 learners.
