The volume focuses on reconstructing the phenomenon in its cultural, social, and educational development, and deconstructing it in its self-evidence and logic. From a sociological perspective, the centrality of the concept of performance for modern society is traced. Through a historical approach, it demonstrates how the paradigm has evolved over time. Practices of performance construction—assignments, examinations, and performance evaluations—are addressed from an educational perspective and critically reflected upon.
