Marina Metz examines migration and resources in their multifaceted interrelationship from a comprehensive biographical perspective. The empirical foundation consists of biographies of migrants from the former Soviet Union who immigrated to Germany in the 1990s. The results present a significantly more nuanced picture of migration from the former Soviet Union than has previously existed in migration research. Furthermore, they emphasize the need to focus more on the resources of migrants, thereby opening up new perspectives for both theoretical and empirical discussions on the topic of migration.
