The operational procurement function has experienced a continuous increase in significance over the past decade. Within the framework of Supply Chain Management (SCM), the entire value chain, from raw material suppliers to end consumers, is viewed through the lens of holistic process optimization. Supplier evaluation is a critical component for successful SCM. Christian G. Janker substantiates why existing methods do not meet the heightened demands for supplier evaluation. The author develops a new, efficient model for supplier evaluation and demonstrates how the assessment and selection of one or more optimal suppliers can be carried out. Furthermore, additional tasks of supplier management, such as the control of the supplier database, are effectively supported.
