What contributions can cultural policy in Germany make to help solve societal challenges today, or to solve them at an accelerated pace? This monograph is based on the assumption that cultural policy in Germany has specific instruments of influence on social processes due to its development as a political field and its structural arrangement. Essential elements, in contrast to other states, include the principles of subsidiarity and federalism, as well as a dense network between cultural policy as a political department and culturally engaged civil society.
