This book develops implementation-oriented concepts for the introduction of a new form of non-profit housing in Germany, based on experiences from its long history (1851 to 1989). Historical, legal, and political aspects, as well as the European legal framework, are examined. Using examples from Austria and the Netherlands, two current approaches to social housing provision are analyzed and made applicable. The book proposes quickly implementable measures and a detailed concept for the establishment of a larger community-oriented housing offer for a new form of non-profit housing.
