The importance of knowledge management in research remains high. The expectations of business practice regarding manageable concepts and solutions for use in strategic management, particularly with the help of information and communication technologies, are growing. Ellen Bäppler demonstrates how ICT can efficiently link strategy processes with knowledge management. She illustrates the content-related and methodological connections for designing knowledge management in strategic management. Based on an information system meta-model, the author discusses the development of action areas and functionalities for knowledge management systems to arrive at IT reference architectures.
