Virtualization is playing an increasingly important role in the operation of SAP ERP systems. However, the impacts of virtualization on performance and scalability often remain unclear and only become apparent when problems arise. André Bögelsack demonstrates, using the benchmark "Zachmanntest," how easily and effectively SAP ERP systems can be benchmarked and how the influences of virtualization can be identified. Based on a large-scale study, the effects can be detailed across various load phases. The author also shows how to respond to such influences and ensure the performance of the SAP ERP system.
