Peter Kern makes police communication at large events the subject of scientific examination for the first time, highlighting the parameters of successful communication. There is a need for communication both with the civilian public and within the police forces during large events. However, in police culture, the understanding and commitment to external communication have not yet been recognized as a necessary principle of everyday performance. The surprising result of this study is that even simple means of communication can enable tactical measures that are suitable for reducing violent confrontations. The author emphasizes the high expectations that people have for police communication and outlines the frameworks and measures necessary for effective communication.
