The contributions in this anthology examine the relationship between religion and gender orders in various religious and cultural contexts. Based on case studies, evaluations of survey data, or theoretical reflections, the authors explore how increasing societal secularization and modernization on one hand, and the (re)vitalization and heightened visibility of religion driven by migration processes on the other hand, affect gender orders.
