Product details
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a topic in nearly all economic sectors. For the past four years, the use of RFID in Supply Chain Event Management has been increasingly discussed. The goal of Supply Chain Event Management is to quickly identify disruptive events in value creation networks (e.g., supplier failure, production downtime, accidents, traffic congestion, or fluctuations in demand) and respond appropriately. Dirk Schmidt presents application scenarios of RFID technology in Mobile Supply Chain Event Management and illustrates the prevalence of RFID technology in practice based on current empirical studies. Factors that promote and hinder the use of RFID are discussed. Additionally, the author describes an approach to the cost-effectiveness analysis of RFID using an RFID application at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
