The starting point of the investigation is the observation that venture capital firms based in Germany make a significant portion of their investments in young growth companies together with other venture capital providers. VC financiers rely to varying degrees on joint investments. The author concludes with implications for venture capital research and practice. On one hand, the scientific contribution of this study is highlighted, its content and methodological limitations are outlined, and further research needs in the VC context are identified. On the other hand, recommendations for decision-making and action are provided to entrepreneurs and venture capital firms regarding the structuring of VC syndicates.
