A balance of terror. Of lost hydrogen bombs, missing uranium, and uncontrollable technologies. Humanity has known since Fukushima that nuclear technology will never be completely controllable. Few are aware of the enormous quantities of nuclear material present in the world, how carelessly it has been handled, and how it is still being mishandled, as well as the tangible dangers that arise from it. Initially, ignorance led people and governments to render entire regions uninhabitable (Bikini, Soviet test sites, Nevada), to conduct or plan bizarre experiments (the creation of artificial weather phenomena or the detonation of a second Panama Canal using 300 atomic bombs), or to build increasingly larger, more dangerous, and crazier weapons (atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb, cobalt bomb). Today, however, the danger lies in the lack of knowledge and ignorance regarding the existing risks.
