The debut of drummer Gard Nilssen on ECM comes after he has contributed to highly regarded recordings with the Maciej Obara Quartet and Mathias Eick. Elastic Wave showcases Nilssen's powerful trio featuring his Norwegian colleague André Roligheten on saxophone and Swedish bassist Petter Eldh. The dynamic interplay of the group, their danceable pulse, and distinctive themes—each of the three players contributes compositions—make Acoustic Unity one of the most interesting bands in today's scene. The trio interprets stirring anthems and subtle ballads with equal measures of energy and conviction. Elastic Wave was recorded in June 2021 at the La Buissonne studios in southern France.
