The New Building emerged as the architectural expression of the Jewish community in the then British Mandate territory of Palestine since the 1920s. It established itself here more quickly than in most European countries. In Tel Aviv, for example, the so-called White City developed into a modern architectural ensemble of exceptional density. This volume addresses the unprecedented boom of modern architecture in Palestine for the first time from the perspective of the underlying mediation processes. Renowned authors examine the techniques, structures, and actors that enabled the transfer of architectural knowledge and adapted it to local conditions.
