Moholy-Nagy is among the artists whose reputation continues to grow after their death, as their works possess prophetic functions. (Otto Stelzer) Moholy-Nagy's significance for the avant-garde is also evident in the book "Painting, Photography, Film," which he authored and designed and is now available as a facsimile. Around 1925, he begins to reject handmade textures. He abandons painting to focus on drawing with light. In doing so, he does not engage in traditional photography but seeks experimentation: he calls for the elimination of perspective representation and dreams of devices with lenses and mirror systems that can capture the subject from all sides simultaneously and are based on different optical laws than our eyes. The book is a treasure trove of utopias, some of which have now become reality.
