Product details

Tim Eitel (born 1971) was celebrated around the turn of the millennium as a shooting star and darling of the art market of the New Leipzig School. This book provides a key to the visual and intellectual world of the controversially discussed artist. It focuses on Eitel's work since 2001, exploring its depth and substance. For the analysis, all press publications about Eitel since 2003 have been evaluated. The artist reflects on the medium of painting and the role of the viewer. His thematic spectrum has developed with almost scientific systematicity. Eitel has previously been compared to Caspar David Friedrich, Piet Mondrian, Edward Hopper, and Alex Katz. In the study presented by Sara Tröster Klemm, his roots in the tradition of old Dutch and Baroque painting are examined for the first time. He also draws important impulses from conceptual photography.
