The curiosity about the experience of oneself and the puzzles that everyday life, philosophy, and biology present has not left Hans Magnus Enzensberger since the publication of "The Defense of the Wolves" (1957), his first collection of poems. Over the decades since then, his work has become, like few others, a poetic vademecum for contemporaries. "We couldn't think of anyone with whom we would rather rhyme this world," wrote the Neue Zürcher Zeitung once - voilà: Enzensberger's personal selection of his poems from six decades. In this selection, Enzensberger reshuffles the cards compared to the collected poems from 2005: he chose to forgo some pieces from the perspective of 2010, while including others from "The History of Clouds" (2003) and especially from his most recent works.
