A representative selection of 60 poems by the great Russian author, encompassing all periods of his lyrical work, starting with the early lyceum verses. With the range of its themes and its artistry, it ranks among the highest achievements of world literature. An accurate prose translation is provided alongside the Russian text. A re-translation was deliberately omitted, as it could only have proven inadequate compared to the poetic qualities of the original, like all previous attempts.
