Yvonne Albrecht demonstrates in her book that it is meaningful to consider the general functions of emotions within current migration processes. She shows how migration can be conceptualized as an experiential phenomenon. This allows for further insights in the analysis of migration processes. Migrants are explicitly viewed as active emotional agents who shape their own situations in the context of arrival. The book thus addresses a research gap that has previously existed.
