On Christmas Eve, a train gets stuck in the snow near the village of Hemmersby. Several passengers seek refuge in an abandoned country house. The door is open, the fireplace is lit, and the table is set for tea, yet no one seems to be there. Relying on each other, the travelers attempt to unravel the mystery of the empty house - when a murder occurs. Despite heavy snowfall, an eccentric group of travelers departs London on Christmas Day right on time. However, the train gets stuck in the snow on an open stretch. The passengers then gradually decide to leave their compartment and make their way to the nearest village. Along the way, they come across a seemingly deserted cottage - even though the door is open and it is brightly lit. But this is not the only secret the house holds, and it is revealed only at a high price.
