The technology of joints and joint shafts has made significant progress since the publication of this unique reference work on the subject, and their applications have multiplied. Accordingly, the revisions for this second edition have been extensive. The presentation of the material has also been adjusted: starting from the fundamentals, it covers undercut-free manufacturing as well as modern perspectives on strength theory and lifespan estimation. The design and practical application of universal joint shafts, including in agricultural machinery, are described, as well as constant velocity joints in road and rail vehicle construction.
