The present book aims to outline the research field of the sociology of economic knowledge and economics. While there are now some sociological works in this area, it can only be said that there is a nascent research direction with somewhat codified guiding questions, established foundational knowledge, and a well-equipped methodological arsenal. Economics, as the social science with the greatest cognitive authority, the best funding, and the strongest integration into political decision-making processes, has failed in the face of relevant events such as the financial and economic crisis of 2007 within its object domain, and most representatives of other social and cultural science disciplines have little to say about their neighboring discipline.
