Hasan Özdemir, born in 1963 in Turkey, studied German studies, philosophy, and German as a foreign language philology in Heidelberg. He lives as a poet in Ludwigshafen and Freinsheim. In 1989, he published his first collection of poems "Was soll es sein". The later literature fellow of the city of Stuttgart and guest author at Keele University in England received the 2002 Literature Promotion Award of the Palatinate. His poems have been translated into English, French, Polish, Russian, and - as part of the Poetry Festival in Parma and Florence in 2009 - into Italian.
