Why read aloud? Why this book? Why the geology of Switzerland? During my studies, I often thought that lectures were a complete waste of time. Probably, many lectures are indeed a waste of time, especially when students can progress even faster through self-study. Be that as it may, lectures are a tradition in our education system, from primary school to university. It is not our place to condemn this form of information delivery, which has been used worldwide for ages – it certainly has its justification – and ultimately, we teachers have little choice, as we are tasked with delivering lectures. Under these circumstances, there was not much left but to focus on finding the best possible solution. So why should you attend my lecture? In any case, I hope you are not sitting here out of obligation.
