Structural change in rural areas and demographic change are reflected in regional migration, economic shrinkage and concentration processes, as well as challenges in the future care of older people. This presents new challenges for family generational relationships and regional care structures, as well as for the political management and financing of these changes. The living conditions of all generations in the respective regions are fundamentally affected. However, new opportunities and potentials also arise, as an increasing proportion of older people brings with it better health, higher average education, and, compared to previous times, largely secure material living conditions.
