Overflowing imagination, craftsmanship perfection, and humorous profundity characterize the large-format woodcuts, vibrant collages, and delicately nuanced typewriter drawings of the artist duo Gert & Uwe Tobias. In their new series Grisaille, created exclusively for the Munich exhibition, the artists rediscover the centuries-old technique of gray-on-gray painting and reinterpret it in the medium of woodcut for themselves. In the twilight of a monochromy completely unknown in their work so far, the shadow realm of their fantastic images not only gains in ambiguity but is once again pushed to the extreme.
