The narrative takes us from the Wild West to the Orient: events are depicted in which Old Shatterhand becomes involved after the death of Winnetou. Adventures in the Arabian desert must be faced, and a reunion between Kara Ben Nemsi and Hadschi Halef Omar awaits the reader. This story is set in the mid-1870s. The continuation can be found in Volume 27 "At the Ruins of Babylon." Volumes 28 "In the Realm of the Silver Lion" and 29 "The Petrified Prayer" partially continue the plot while also serving as an autobiographical key novel, inspired by May's impressions from his great journey to the Orient in 1899/1900. The original title of this formerly four-volume travel narrative was "In the Realm of the Silver Lion I-IV." The title is also available as an e-book.
