On the occasion of Cees Nooteboom's 70th birthday, the first three volumes of his collected works were published last autumn in a high-quality edition: bound in dark red linen, featuring elegant covers designed purely typographically, printed on the finest paper, with ribbon bookmarks, and housed in a slipcase. Volume 1 contains poetry, including approximately 100 poems that have not been published in German before. Volumes 2 and 3 include Nooteboom's novels and stories, among them the newly translated collection of stories "The Lovestruck Prisoner." Nooteboom's collected works, which are planned to span eight volumes, differ significantly from comparable editions in that there is an endless amount to discover here: new and previously untranslated material. Volumes 4 and 5 now present the first part of Nooteboom's travel stories: starting in the Netherlands, the center of Nooteboom's world.
