The first volume contains all the plays. The three well-known pieces "Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt," "Pioniere in Ingolstadt," and "Der starke Stamm" showcase Fleisser's position between Brecht and Horváth. These are folk plays of a kind that depict the people without idealizing them, capturing their language and using it to reveal the mentality and situation of the common folk. The volume also includes "Karl Stuart," her only historical play, and a previously almost unknown piece: "Der Tiefseefisch." Two versions of "Pioniere in Ingolstadt" are printed, the one that caused such a stir under Brecht's dramaturgical hand in 1929, and the new version from 1968.
