From a larger selection of essays emerges a picture in which the world of Reinhold Schneider stands before us - the world of a homeless wanderer, yet also shaped by the homeland of Baden. The essence, however, is that it is precisely from Germany's heartlands that the great tradition of hierarchical order in kings, princes, and castles is resurrected, as if in a "resurrection in death." Nowhere else, except in these texts, which form a single "German Symphony" of the breath and sound of quintessential German landscapes, does the one law of history resonate so strongly: representation - before which all the noise of "personality" falls silent. It is a confession to a Germany that can only stand among the classical countries by being, like in the Middle Ages, "unity ever-present amidst contradictions." Erich Przywara.
