Volume 16 of the Georg Simmel Complete Works includes the last five individual publications by Simmel from the years 1917 and 1918. These are: "The War and the Spiritual Decisions. Speeches and Essays" (1917), "Fundamental Questions of Sociology. (Individual and Society)" (1917), "On the Nature of Historical Understanding" (1918), "The Conflict of Modern Culture. A Lecture" (1918), and "Worldview. Four Metaphysical Chapters" (1918). Georg Simmel passed away before the release of the last title. Gertrud Simmel reported to Count Keyserling that he referred to "Worldview" as "the final conclusion of his wisdom." "I believe it pours forth once more a cornucopia over all those who understood how to receive it.".
