Historical themes have been among the most popular subjects in children's and young adult literature since the Enlightenment. In recent years, this genre has gained renewed attention, influenced by historical novels aimed at adult readers. This volume provides an overview of the various forms of contemporary historical children's and young adult literature. Additionally, it highlights the possibilities and limitations of teaching these texts in the classroom. Studies on the impact of a changing media environment on the genre, as well as its significance in the context of discussions in both literary and historical scholarship regarding the so-called postmodernism, complete the presentation.
