Product details

In many countries, especially in their metropolises, there are coffee houses. In London, they have been documented since 1652, and in Paris since 1660. However, nowhere in the world do they belong to the urban landscape as naturally as in the Austrian capital, Vienna, where they have been an essential part of local cultural history for over 300 years. Tourists visiting Vienna typically plan to visit at least one of the famous coffee houses, alongside attractions like the Prater, the State Opera, the Hofburg, and the Spanish Riding School. The coffee house tradition has not died out to this day. On the contrary, for about 20 years, the popularity of those cafés, which exist in their unique form only in Vienna, seems to be on the rise again. The author Olaf Link presents in this book some of the most popular cafés that continue to thrive despite their immense diversity.
