Political science is increasingly opening up to questions of historical policy. Manuel Becker examines the possibility of a theoretical foundation of history as an element of political action. In the empirical part, the theoretical insights gained are applied to three case studies: The historical argumentation patterns in the debate over Turkey's accession to the EU are analyzed and subjected to an intensive consistency check. Furthermore, the history of the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Records is analyzed in terms of its historical-political genesis and development, as well as the memory policy project of a center against expulsion. Finally, the results are summarized into ten theses on historical policy in the Berlin Republic.
