The publication focuses on the analysis and interpretation of selected children's books on the topic of disability. The main emphasis of the study is on the representation of sibling relationships between disabled and non-disabled children. A key question of overarching interest is how a child's disability affects their non-disabled siblings and whether common gender-specific role divergences become apparent in this context. The work begins with sociological considerations regarding the personal issues faced by a disabled child and their family, before outlining the situation of the non-disabled siblings. A historical overview of literature illustrates the development of the portrayal of disability in children's and youth literature up to the present day.
