Violent actions by girls and young women deviate from the societal image of their gender role. They are seen as domestic, socially engaged, and peaceful. Unlike boys, they are not expected to behave loudly and tumultuously. When they react aggressively, this behavior is perceived as unnatural and masculine. Youth violence is predominantly male. The police crime statistics reported that in 2007, 87% of juvenile suspects in violent crimes were male. Thus, youth violence is viewed as a problem of male youth. As a result, female offenders are pushed into the background, and their motives, backgrounds, and the circumstances that lead them to react aggressively remain unknown. However, to capture and understand the diversity of violent girls and young women, a detailed analysis is necessary.
