Product details
For collectors of Saxon coins and the coin trade, the series of Saxony catalogs from the Gietl Verlag has developed into a widely used and appreciated resource over the past seven years. Due to the existing gaps in this series, the author has frequently been approached and has been made acutely aware of the necessity to continue the catalog series. After extensive research in public and private collections, this popular series can now be continued with another Albertine ruler, whose coins represent a particularly attractive area of Saxon-Albertine numismatics: Elector Friedrich August I, known as Augustus the Strong (1694 - 1733). Since this Saxon ruler also became King of Poland as Augustus II in 1696, all coins issued by him that were not minted for Saxony but for Poland and Lithuania, as well as those issued by the West Prussian cities of Danzig, Elbing, and Thorn under King Augustus II, have also been included and evaluated.
