For Sonja, peace is within reach. Together with Kurt Eisner and other pacifists, she aims to end the war in January 1918 after four years of hardship. Eisner and she declare a general strike, but the activists are arrested. Her husband publicly disowns Sonja, unwilling to jeopardize his professional career due to his wife's scandalous behavior. Only Fritzi, a young munitions worker, visits the prisoner, eager to learn the secret of the admired revolutionary. Before the reader unfolds the tragic life of a woman caught between two worlds.
