Andrew O'Connor, an Irish rebel against the Queen of England, has lost everything he held dear. In the Catholic Church, he finds a new family that sends him to Vienna to interrogate a Protestant lay preacher accused of heresy. The two grapple with truths of faith and explore the question of what the meaning of human existence truly is. However, everything Andrew believed is suddenly called into question when fate dramatically confronts him with his past.
