Würzburg on the Main, Year of Our Lord 1416. An incredible crime shakes the city and puts Prince-Bishop Johann von Brunn in an extremely precarious situation: Just five days before Kiliani, the highest holiday of the diocese, the relics of the three Franconian apostles Kilian, Kolonat, and Totnan are stolen. Thousands of pilgrims are already in the city. The situation threatens to escalate if the relics do not reappear by the feast of Saint Kilian on July 8. However, not all hope is lost. Berengar von Gamburg, the bailiff of the Count of Wertheim, accidentally witnesses a conversation between the thief and the client. He is tasked with solving the case.
