Freiburg 1992. Prosecutor Margarethe Heymann is approached by a man seeking help. Ten years ago, he filed a criminal complaint against several judges and has heard nothing from the justice system since. His father had transferred the family business property to an employee to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Nazis. However, the promised return of the property never happened. Reluctantly, and burdened by personal issues, the prosecutor takes on the case. Soon, she uncovers inconsistencies.
