Quietly situated in foggy Vienna, north of the Danube, is the café "Heller." This tranquility is abruptly shattered when a regular patron, retired Susanne Niedermayer, is found murdered. The police suspect a drunk as the perpetrator, but chief Leopold is reluctant to believe this version. Taking matters into his own hands, he begins his own investigation. A promising lead takes him to the club "Fernweh." Here, during film screenings and slide shows, the elderly lady regularly escaped the confines of her homeland for the vast, wide world.
