1964: Barely back in his hometown Wickenrode in northern Hesse from the USA, Jewish doctor Edgar Brix stumbles upon a corpse. Memories of an unsolved murder from 1938 resurface. Together with retired miner Albrecht Schneider, he becomes embroiled in a story that puts them in conflict with the investigating authorities. The seriousness of the situation only becomes clear to them when another murder occurs. And then Albrecht Schneider also disappears without a trace.
