Chief Inspector Moritz Buchmann is called to St. Ulrich during a hike in the Bavarian Forest. There, the horrifically mutilated body of Alois Huber has been found. The forest farmer from Engelsgrub wanted to sell some of his properties to allow for the construction of a pumped storage power plant at Osser. Have the opponents of the controversial project gone to extremes? Was the deceased obstructing other beneficiaries of the project? Or should the perpetrator be sought within the victim's personal circle? Buchmann has little time to answer these questions, as the murderer has announced further killings.
